Happy New Year! I hope this blog finds you in good spirits + happy + healthy + ready to have the best year you’ve ever had! (I'm writing this at the top of the New Year, so kindly disregard the delay).
I’m no journalist here nor am I a professional writer, but lately I’ve been occupying this space of using writing as another outlet! (If you know me, this is probably shocking because communicating hasn’t always been my thing, hence my love for dance) But here we are.
When God puts something on my heart I learned to not question, just obey.
This year I promised myself to do any + everything I’ve ever wanted to do. No holding back. 2022 was all about stepping outside of my comfort zone and I plan to do just that indefinitely, ok? Coincidentally my phrase of last year was “God got me.” I mean I literally have it everywhere. Sticky notes, my journal, passwords (please don’t hack me). Everywhere! I had to (and still do) keep reminding myself how much power is in your words & understanding that what you focus on, magnifies.
I know we’re in such an instant digital age where interest typically lies in YouTube & podcasts (I’ll share my faves too!) But I wanted to venture into the world of blogging and talk about all the things (good and “bad.”) From dance to entrepreneurship to nutrition to mental health to travel – literally all. the. things.
If my audience is 1 or 1,000, I’m okay. I’m just honouring the desires of my heart + sharing things I’ve learned along the way!

So! Since we’re in a new year and all pretty much on the same page of setting the tone! I wanted to share some of my favourite daily tasks or just things to help change your narrative a bit if you needed a refresher!
+ Prayer – it's how I start and end every single day. I'm not sure where you are in your spiritual journey but setting out that quiet time with God is crucial in navigating the outcome of your day.
+ Journal + Self Reflect + Gratitude Entries
+ Please get in therapy this year. Please. Even if you think you’re “just fine.” GO!
+ Create daily to-do lists and celebrate yourself each time you complete something!
+ Make the effort to eat better + cleaner.
+ Start + End your day with meditation. Meditation came with a lot of “practice” for me. Although there’s no right or wrong way to meditate, you definitely should find something suitable for you! Shorter, guided meditations have been my go-to! I discovered Great Meditation on YouTube about 4 years ago, and I literally haven’t looked back since!
+ Develop a fitness + movement routine. Whether it’s dancing (come to Delaware Center for Dance) or working out getting your body moving is so transformative obviously physically but + mentally + emotionally. I’ve danced my entire life and the impact it’s had mentally almost supersedes the physical pros. Once I developed a consistent workout regimen? Game changer!
+ Listen to a podcast! I’ve been so conscious about the things I allow myself to receive auditorily. Low key super proud because I made it a point to constantly be fed with good things! Now obviously I have my occasional Stallion sessions. But I try to consume a lot of motivationally positive audio! Some of my favourites are: Know for Sure podcast by B.Simone and Megan Ashley, Triggered AF Podcast and Joyce Meyer Enjoying Everyday Life Podcast.
+ Take a step away from screen time. Go for a walk (actually, it's cold so maybe not), grab a drink with some friends, read a book maybe? I just really don't believe we're conditioned to be so overstimulated by social media. But hey, that's me! If you're looking for a good read, I always start my year out with Michael Todd's Crazy Faith.

I know all of this sounds like cliche "new year goals and resolutions" but I really challenge you to be intentional about your life this year. These are just things that work for me.
Find your why. Find something that works for you and stick to it!
It's never too late to start over. Those moments that take you out of character do not define you. The work you do is still valid. Give yourself grace, always.
Cheers to you! Happy New Year!
